There’s no question the importance of giving back to your local community. Earlier this year, we saw just how big of a heart America has following the hurricane in Houston. Even with all of our differences, when it comes to it, Americans will stand together and help one another out in the event of an emergency.
As we are now done with the summer and fall, we wanted to take a second and talk about a wonderful program TAMKO Building Products, Inc. has donated to in the past to support local children. If you have never heard of TAMKO Building Products, Inc. it is one of the largest independent manufacturers of residential and commercial roofing products. TAMKO and its roofing products are synonymous with quality.
TAMKO has once again donated to the Shop with a Cop Program put on by the Lamar, Missouri Police Department. In 2016, TAMKO donated $500 to the program, which has a goal of bringing joy to local children over the holidays.
In the 11 years that the program has been in existence in Lamar, the police department has been able to give hundreds of children gift cards to go shopping for Christmas. The program has grown from 27 children to more than 100, and the program includes kids from several Southwest Missouri cities including Lamar, Liberal, Golden City, Lockwood, and Jasper. Children ages five though 12 are eligible for the program.
In a nutshell, Shop with a Cop provides children with gift cards, which they can use to shop for themselves and their family. The children who are selected get the opportunity to shop with local police officers. This not only helps children in need, but encourages the development of positive relationships with local police. It is a win-win and a program that TAMKO is proud to be a part of.
